Attitude of Gratitude

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” - Albert Einstein

Gratitude is one of those things you know you should focus on, but when you’re hurrying to keep up with work, family, and other obligations, it can be easily overlooked. Over the course of the last month, many really negative events have taken place in our Country/World. The more you focus on the negatives - daily inconveniences, setbacks, hurdles, etc. - the more those things seem to grow and consume your time. By choosing instead to focus on positive developments in your life and career, and cultivating a deeper appreciation for those good things, you will shift your focus toward appreciation for the things that turn out well. Wonder where this is going…?

Last month I sent out an email to our membership, informing them of the culmination of a project at the Spencer Museum of Art that SGR had been donating to for a couple of years. It was an exciting project that really had an impact on the way the museum’s sampler collection will be used and made more accessible to students and the public going forward. It is a proud moment for our Guild! I also shared that report with the person who informed Guild back in 2018 at our annual Seminar about the collection and the challenging situation regarding the storage of the samplers and access to them. That person was so elated by the work taken on by SGR, that she made an incredible $5000.00 donation to our Heritage and Education Fund! She wanted to say thank you for not only donating to the preservation of the sampler collection, but for figuring out and funding the re-housing of the collection that will enable users to access the front and the back of a sampler safely and without impact. This amazing donation will enable Guild to continue to bring in the highest caliber of teachers/designers, year after year!

So, I am continuing to have an attitude of gratitude for our many generous members and the way in which positive events supplant the negative ones. Thank you for being generous with your time, talent, and resources! Our Guild continues to thrive!

As a reminder, the church doors will open at 2pm for members with the meeting called to order promptly at 2:30.

Until next time, Happy Stitching!
